Back in the days when myself and Ben from Tours In The Extreme used to organise the biggest, craziest off road events in Cambodian history we used to drag a film cameraman with us to record all the foolishness. Ben has put some shorts taken from the event up on the net at YouTube and it can be found at

DVD’s of the last event entitled ‘A Matter Of Luck’ are in their latest production run as we speak, so if you’d like to get hold of a copy contact me here at zeman@cambodiaexpeditions.com.
For a touch of nostalgia check out this short of stuff from the Mondulkiri Rally Raid 1998
And the first part of the Cambodia Expeditions Ten Year Round Up
Here is Part Two
A modern twist on Apocalypse Now on Dirt Bikes
The Ben Witch Project – a group of intrepid dirt bike riders tackle the infamous Death Highway from Ratanakiri to Mondulkiri. All that was found was this video tape…

Not a dirt bike tour but some footage of us messing around in the jet boat in Wales…
Trails of the Unexpected pops up here as well, although this time the story is used more to illustrate the ride up to the top of Bokor Mountain.

More of my Ramblings that originally appeared in the Bayon Pearnik, not long after myself and Craig started the magazine. Entitled ‘Mud and Glory’ it was the three-part tale of our First Mondulkiri Rally Raid. Thirty five assorted dirt bikes from Honda XLR to Suzuki DR’s even the odd (very odd) Honda AX1.

How things In 2001 myself and Ben Laffer of Tours In The Extreme organized what still stands as the largest off-road event in Cambodian history in the shape of the Caltex Extreme Rally Raid 2001. Fifty-five dirt bikers, several support vehicle, including a six wheel drive Russian army lorry called a Zil. And a charitable theme, as, I seem to remember saying in the documentary that went with the event “proving that dirt bikers can be humanitarians too.” With the support of the National Malaria Centre we distributed over 1500 mosquito nets through the provinces that the Rally travelled. It became incorporated into the Cambodia Daily’s Mosquito net campaign and they did a piece about it:

Big Ben took the hard ridin,’ hard writin’ Goba on one of the Extreme Rally Raids, a motorcycle tour he was certain to never forget. At the time Goba was writing for one of the Big Dirt Bike Mags in Australia. This is what he wrote:
